So yesterday I decide to actually get my over-worked butt out of bed and attend church. Seeing as none of my roomies were home, I went by myself, which I think is a feat in itself. I went to the ever-growing Brentwood Baptist Church for my Sunday dose of church. This church is huge, 6,000 members huge. Well at the end of the service the church honored their pastor, Mike Glenn, because it was his 15th Anniversary at the church. They did all of their hoopla and then we prayed. Well after the prayer I look up and see this guy on stage.....
yep, one Mr. Brad Paisley was on stage.....at church! We (my roommates and I) had heard that he was a member at that church, and we actually had seen his wife once (a Mrs. Kimberly Williams Paisley of Father of the Bride and According to Jim fame) but I never expected this! He sang "How Great Thou Art" and his recent hit "When I get where I'm going." It was awesome, it was such a moving and surprising moment that the whole time he sang the church was silent. And it was great just to hear him sing with only his guitar and not all those other instruments they use at concerts. I just kept thinking that only in Nashville, TN does a country music artist sing at church!
That is so cool. John downloaded him singing How Great Thou Art at the grand ole opry. I love it and I love him!! I want to see a country star at church. That will never happen in St. Louis...maybe Nelly though.
