Habitat for Humanity

Last week 5 of us from work were able to participate in the Habitat for Humanity/Whirlpool Building Blocks event. A group of 300 volunteers built 10 houses in 6 days! Here are a few pictures from that. This is what we started with at 7 am on Sunday. Just a slab of concrete.

This is a view of the houses being built on the block

Oh yea, that's who you think it is in the picture. Reba McEntire is a partner in the Habitat/Whirlpool gig and she was on site the first day. They wanted to get a shot of her talking to a volunteer and I got to do it!! We chatted briefly for a moment, talked about Habitat and such, and then I told her I loved her show. We're best friends now..... kidding.... :)

The house at the end of day 1. We basically did 2 days worth of work in one day...very tiring.

The house at the end of day 4

The finished product, built in 6 days. When it was worked out into hours we actually built this house in 46 hours. How cool is that? I can now typar a house, nail in plywood on the roof, install insulation, hang a door and its frame, and paint like a motherfu.... well, I can paint well now. :)
