As many of you know, part of my job includes taking Ozzie, our mascot, to elementary schools. We perform assemblies for the kids to get them pumped up about reading and about coming out to the Sounds games.
Yesterday I began the assembly with Ozzie and noticed that the small kids in the front row were exceptionally rowdy. One girl kept screaming "kitty cat" over and over again while pointing at Ozzie. Then I noticed that another girl started barking at Ozzie. Yes, I said barking. I guess she thought Ozzie was a dog (he's a cougar for those of you thinking right now.. "what exactly is Ozzie?"). I thought this was kind of funny, but kept proceeding with the assembly. Then i realized that this girl keeps barking, and keeps barking, and keeps barking, and no one stops her!!!!!! Not once does a teacher come up to her and go "my dear, please stop barking at our guests..." nothing (sidenote: It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine when we go to schools and kids act up and teachers do nothing about it... HUGE pet peeve.....). By the end of the assembly, this girl was on all fours, barking and moving toward Ozzie. It was the funniest, craziest, most annoying thing ever!
Here are some answers to questions I'm sure you have:
* No, the girl was not a special needs child. She was normal...well, she looked it anyways
* No, though the girl was barking and moving toward Ozzie, she never did actually attack
* No, Ozzie did not bark back
* And yes, she must do this often b/c I noticed that even the children seemed to block her out. Not one child pointed or laughed at her (which is exactly what I would have done in school if one of my classmates barked at people).
* Yes, she does have a bright future ahead of her of being the town twit that stands on the corners and barks at cars (according to Cheyenne this actually happens in Woodbury...)
I wish I had pictures or videos to show, but all I can do is tell the tale and let your imaginations do the rest.
Good day
